Hailee Steinfeld wants the press to know that she’s not dating Justin Bieber, ok?
“Someone,” aka a source in Justin Bieber’s camp, wanted TMZ to know that he’s dating Hailee Steinfeld, 20. Bieber is 23 and this would be a perfectly understandable/age appropriate hookup if I didn’t think Steinfeld was better than that. Bieber was photographed at the end of March in a Facetime call with Hailee and he made sure to turn his phone toward the camera, like he was bragging that she would deign to talk to him. Then TMZ ran this story last night claiming these two were more than just friends and that they hooked up after the Met Gala:
Justin Bieber’s moved on to a new Hailey — different spelling though because he’s now dating singer and actress Hailee Steinfeld … TMZ has learned.
It’s all still fresh. Our sources tell us they’ve only been seeing each other for a little over a month — though that’s a lot in Bieber’s world. We’re told they were introduced by pastor Carl Lentz. They both attend his church.
Last month, JB dropped a giant clue things were heating up between them when he was photographed mid-FaceTime with the “Pitch Perfect 2” star.
Justin’s in NYC now and we’re told they met up after Hailee went to the Met Gala … solo.
Even if this is true, it’s thirsty/desperate of Bieber to brag to the press that he’s dating Hailee after only a month. He gets hung up easily though, and he’s been looking for a new famous woman to latch on to ever since his first love Selena Gomez rejected him for good. It’s got to sting him so hard that Selena is so happy with The Weeknd and made her couple debut with him at the Met Gala, hence this story. Only Hailee’s people told TMZ that she was just friends with Bieber, and TMZ wrote in response that “Our sources are clear … their relationship has left the friend zone.”
Not content to let her initial denial speak for itself, US has a new story seemingly from Hailee’s camp that she’s had a boyfriend for a year. His name is Cameron Smoller, he works at Snapchat, he and Hailee are all over each other’s Instagrams and made their red carpet debut earlier this year. Check out some of their cute pics of each other below. The have the same face! I know that sounds weird, but I find those lookalike couples so cute. Here’s what a source told US:
Though [Hailee and Bieber] were photographed FaceTiming last month and then spotted together after Steinfeld left the Met Gala on Monday night, their relationship is not romantic.
The Oscar nominee has been dating Smoller, 20, since late last year. She went public with their relationship in December, sharing an Instagram photo of herself cozying up to Smoller in front of the sunset. A month later, the couple made their public debut at a W magazine event at Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles ahead of the 2017 Golden Globe Awards.
So even if Hailee and Bieber hooked up romantically at some point, she’s friendzoning him now. Respect to Hailee. Also as I mentioned during our Met Gala coverage I saw her in The Edge of Seventeen and was surprised at what a good actress she is. She can do so much better than Bieber, and it looks like she already has. Bieber should just keep trolling Instagram for his next girlfriend. Surely he can find someone willing to be seen with him.
