Does Joyce die in Stranger Things season 4 volume 2? (Spoilers)

Stranger Things season 4 volume 2 has finally arrived on Netflix and we have to say, the wait was definitely worth it!

The first seven episodes of the new season managed to cover a lot of ground in a short amount of time with twist after twist coming viewers’ way as did the final two episodes which were among the show’s most action-packed episodes ever.

This season, we see the story split more than we’ve ever seen it before as our favorite characters are scattered in different directions. While the gang back in Hawkins faces off against the season’s new villain, Vecna, Joyce has a different priority on her mind: find Hopper and bring him back home safely.

Early in the season, Joyce receives a package from Russia containing a creepy Russian doll. Convinced it was from Hopper, she calls Murray who helps walk her through how to safely break the doll open to check for clues.

It’s then that she discovers a hidden note that she and Murray are able to later confirm indeed came from Hopper. With help from a guard, Hopper was able to send a letter containing details on how to help break him out of the Russian prison.

Needless to say, Joyce drops everything and quickly boards a plane with Murray out to Alaska to meet up with a contact in hopes of bringing Hopper home. Unfortunately, the contact isn’t as trustworthy as Hop and Joyce hoped he’d be.

Upon arriving in Alaska, Joyce and Murray meet up with Yuri, the man set to help them bring Hopper home. Sadly, he has other plans and double-crosses the pair by slipping something into their drinks with the plan of turning them into the Russians for an even bigger fee than the one he was going to get from helping to save Hopper.

After tying the two up, he loads them into his plane and charts a course to Russia to turn them over to the Russians. However, this is Joyce and Murray we’re talking about — two incredibly crafty individuals.

The pair are able to escape their bindings and overtake Murray. Unfortunately, while in the process of doing so they knock Yuri out, leaving the plane without a pilot. When flicking switches trying to figure out how to fly the plane, the engine stops and the plane begins to fall out of the sky and crashes.

But fear not! Joyce and Murray both make it out of the crash alive which allows them to head out and was able to make it to the Russian prison just in time to save Hopper.

In the final two episodes of season 4, Joyce and company find themselves in a series of near-death predicaments as they work to kill the creatures from the Upside Down located in the Russian prison in order to help those back in Hawkins.

While there are more than a few moments that will leave you wondering if the end is coming for a particular character, including Joyce, we’re relived to report that Joyce survives the events of volume 2 and is very much alive as season 4 comes to a close!
